Hermann Bezoet

Hermann Bezoet , also Hermanus Bezoet , (born November 25, 1736 in Rott , Netherlands ; † February 21, 1805 ibid) was a Dutch general practitioner. He practiced in Rotterdam for a long time .

life and work

Bezoet studied and received his doctorate in medicine at the University of Leiden in 1763 .

Together with Marin Schouten, Bezoet published an extreme case of Pott's disease (tuberculous spondylitis, tuberculosis of the spine) in which the patient's last lumbar vertebrae and sacrum were almost completely destroyed in 1784 .

Bezoet was admitted to the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina on April 20, 1768 with the matriculation number 703 and the academic surname "Diophantus V." .

Hermann Bezoet was married to Maria Cornelia van Heel. The couple had a daughter, Catharina Paulina Bezoet.
