Hermann Bitter (politician, 1897)

Hermann Caspar Julius Bitter (born September 26, 1897 in Ramsloh , Cloppenburg district , † November 21, 1982 ibid) was a German Catholic politician.

Hermann Bitter belonged to the German Center Party . From 1926 to 1932 he was the mayor of Ramsloh and from 1932 to 1933 a member of the Oldenburg state parliament .

In 1944 he was arrested by the Gestapo for political reasons and imprisoned in a prison in Oldenburg. He was appointed Mayor of Saterland by the British occupation forces after the Second World War . After the first free district council election in 1946 , he was elected by the district council to the district council of Cloppenburg on January 16, 1946 and remained in this office until 1964.

Hermann Bitter received the Federal Cross of Merit in 1965 .
