Frenkel was also a noted art collector who focused on German, French, and Spanish paintings from the 19th century, as well as Dutch works from the 17th and Venetian 18th centuries. His heirs sold most of the collection in October 1932. Some works were not sold, including a still life by Frans Snyders , which has been in the Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf since 1938 .
