Hermann Friese (politician)

Hermann Friese (born January 13, 1911 in Meppen ; † January 5, 1996 there ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

Friese was born the son of a master painter. After attending primary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a painter, passed the master craftsman's examination in 1933 and took over the management of his father's painting business in January 1939. From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . During the war he was wounded.

In 1947, Friese opened a retail company for painting and carpentry supplies in Meppen, which he expanded into a wholesaler in 1951. He had been a district master craftsman since 1950 and founded the craft office for the Emslandplan , which he subsequently headed as chairman. In addition, in 1951 he was the founder and chairman of the craft council in the Lower Saxony state association .

Political party

Friese was an active member of the Windthorstbund from 1931 to 1933 and was also a member of the Center Party . In 1945 he was one of the founders of the CDU in Emsland and was its local chairman in Meppen until 1950 . Then he took over the district chairmanship in the district . Since 1951 he was also chairman of the craft advisory board of the CDU Lower Saxony.

MP

Friese had been a member of the Meppen district council since 1946 and a member of the city council of Meppen since 1952. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1957. He was drawn into parliament via the Lower Saxony state list.
