Hermann Friling

Hermann Friling (born August 23, 1867 in Cologne , † August 21, 1940 in Berlin ) was a German painter, illustrator, craftsman and interior designer.

Live and act

After studying at the educational institute of the Royal Museum of Applied Arts in Berlin, he stayed in Berlin. He was artistically effective in a broad field as a representative of Art Nouveau . In addition to paintings, he designed room furnishings, ceramics and metal objects (especially for the Osiris metal goods factory for cabaret). His decorative templates became known primarily through portfolio works that were published by the Bruno Hessling publishing house in Berlin. Friling was not only a well-known modeller, painter and illustrator, he also designed a service called "Hertha" in 1902 for the porcelain manufacturer Rosenthal .

He found his final resting place in the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf .
