Hermann Fritz (politician)

Hermann Fritz (born February 28, 1903 in Vienna , † March 15, 1982 in Graz ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and master locksmith. From 1953 to 1963 he was a councilor in Graz and from 1962 to 1971 a member of the Austrian National Council .

Fritz attended elementary school from 1909 to 1914 and then graduated from secondary school in Bruck an der Mur and in Vienna between 1914 and 1921 . He was then a company employee from 1921 to 1927 and trained as a locksmith from 1927 to 1930. Subsequently he worked as a works manager between 1930 and 1934, and in 1934 he started his own business as a master locksmith in Graz.

On 30 May 1938, the Fritz then living in Graz applied for membership in the Nazi Party, which was retroactive to May 1, 1938 indicating an activity as according to historian Michael Vladika "Illegal" implies. He was assigned the membership number 6,279,791.

Fritz was politically active between 1937 and 1938 as a functionary in the Styrian State Trade Association, and in 1950 he became the state master of the locksmith's guild. He represented the ÖVP in the Graz municipal council between 1953 and 1963 and was a member of the National Council from December 14, 1962 to November 4, 1971.
