Hermann Gahr (born July 15, 1960 in Schwaz , Tyrol ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and member of the Austrian National Council since 1999.

Life

After graduating from agricultural college, Hermann Gahr completed practical training at various agricultural businesses. He then did a commercial apprenticeship. From 1978 to 1980 he completed an apprenticeship. Then he was market manager and managing director in the Raiffeisen goods division.

Since 1991 he has been working in the machine ring department of the Tyrolean Chamber of Agriculture , he is the state manager of the Tyrolean machine and operating aid rings. From 2001 he was chairman of BioEN (Tyrol), from 2003 to 2008 he was chairman of the Maschinenring Austria. Hermann Gahr has been chairman of Forum Land Tirol since November 12, 2014.

Since 1999 he has been a member of the National Council for the Austrian People's Party as a representative for the Innsbruck-Land district and for the Schwaz district . In the National Council election on September 29, 2013, he received a total of 10,392 preferential votes. In the National Council election on September 29, 2019, he received a total of 11,751 preferential votes. Since October 29, 2013, Gahr has acted as secretary of the National Council.

Hermann Gahr is the ÖVP spokesman for the South Tyrol and Audit Office committees.

In the legislative period since 2019, he has been a member of the National Council for the ÖVP in the following committees: Chairman in the subcommittee of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Vice Chairman in the Audit Office Committee; Secretary in the Committee on Transport and member of the Committee on Home Affairs and the Committee on Petitions and Citizens' Initiatives.

He is married and has two children.
