Hermann Grees

Hermann Grees (born June 15, 1925 in Ulm ; † November 24, 2009 in Tübingen ) was Professor of Geography at the University of Tübingen .

After working as a teacher, he studied with Friedrich Huttenlocher in Tübingen, where he completed his doctorate and habilitated there in 1973 with a thesis on "Rural lower classes and rural settlements in East Swabia". His scientific work mainly dealt with the question of rural social structures and their significance for the development of the villages in southwest Germany.

In 2000 he was awarded the Robert Gradmann Medal . He found his final resting place in the Tübingen mountain cemetery .
