Friedrich Huttenlocher

Friedrich Huttenlocher (born September 2, 1893 in Stuttgart , † April 24, 1973 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German geographer .

Career

Huttenlocher , who initially worked as a teacher, completed his habilitation in 1934 and gave his inaugural lecture at the University of Tübingen on the subject of race and geography .

From 1939 he was a reserve officer in the surveying department (mot) 604, from 1943 in the high command of the army in the "military geographic departments of the Wehrmacht" and from October 1944 in the " research squadron for the special use of the OKW " under the direction of Otto Schulz-Kampfhenkel .

Huttenlocher was from 1949 to 1961 Professor of Geography at the University of Tuebingen, first as adjunct and associate professor before the 1957 Chair received. The focus of his work was on researching the geomorphology and settlement geography of Baden-Württemberg .
