Hermann Haffner

Hermann Haffner (born May 8, 1837 in Marbach am Neckar , † July 25, 1902 in Calw ) was a Württemberg politician .

Life

After elementary school, Haffner trained in notary and administration. After passing the lower service exams, he worked from 1873 to 1881 as a civil servant (assistant and council clerk) at the Calw city administration. In addition, he was the district tax commissioner for building, trade and property tax assessments in the Calw district office. In 1871 Haffner became a part-time member of the board of directors of the credit bank for agriculture and trade in Calw. Since 1881 Hermann Haffner worked as a registered notary in Calw. On June 26, 1884, he was elected as the successor of his father-in-law to the city school with 485 of 504 votes. His two opposing candidates had only run pro forma in order to meet the legal requirements for the election. Haffner served until his death in 1902.

From 1889 to 1900 Haffner was a member of the second chamber of the Württemberg estates .

family

In 1864 he married Marie Luise Schuldt, a daughter of the town school leader and member of the state parliament Christian Friedrich Schuldt . They had four children, including Julie Haffner, who married the chief bailiff Gustav von Supper .

Honors

  • Hermann-Haffner-Straße was named after him in Calw.
  • In 1896 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the First Class of the Frederick Order .
