Hermann Heibel

Hermann Heibel (born July 21, 1912 in Neuwied , † August 19, 1941 near Walowo , today Staropolje, Slanzewski rajon, Leningrad Oblast , Russia ) was a German swimmer.

biography

Heibel trained a. a. at the Bremen Swimming Club (BSV) .
He achieved fifth place in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin with the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay, together with Werner Plath , Wolfgang Heimlich and Helmut Fischer in 9: 19.0 minutes. In the 100 m freestyle he did not reach the final with 10th place.

He became German champion in Halberstadt in 1937 with the BSV club relay with Eduard Askamp , Helmut Fischer and Wolfgang Leisewitz. In March 1938 he swam with the club relay with Hans Freese and Helmut Fischer in the Bremen Hanse-Bad the world record time of 4: 03.6 minutes.

Heibel fell in the Russian campaign in 1941.
