Hermann IV of Saffenberg

Hermann IV. Von Saffenberg (* 1027 , † 1091 ), also known as Hermann IV. Von Saffenburg or Hermann II. Von Saffenberg-Nörvenich , was a count from the Saffenberg family, which was an influential noble family in the 11th and 12th centuries Rhineland was. Hermann IV of Saffenberg became Count of Saffenberg , Vogt of Cornelimünster and St. Martin in Cologne . In 1081, as Count von Nörvenich, he also gained control of another county in the Rhineland .

family

Like the Berg family, the Saffenberg family descends from the last counts in the Carolingian Keldachgau .

ancestry

Hermann's father was Adolf II (* around 987, † 1041), Count in the Keldachgau , this was a grandson of Hermann von Lothringen . His sons were Adalbert von Saffenberg and Adolf von Nörvenich . The Saffenberg family was an important noble family in the Rhineland in the 11th and 12th centuries.

Marriage and offspring

Hermann IV von Saffenberg was married to Gepa von Werl , daughter of Count Adalbert von Werl . Little is known about the offspring. The only descendant named is Adalbert von Saffenberg , a cousin of Adolf von Berg .
