Work and style

Ooster has been publishing poems in various media since 1987, primarily at Karin Kramer Verlag .

Ooster's writing is tied to a reflection on social existence. Topics of his writing are dealing with ideology / religion / nature and working in stone. The publisher Karin Kramer wrote about the volume of poetry The world is a museum of unintentional catastrophes : “Here we find this precise poetry from the ... under the doubt and again Ooster gives his account of the current state of the excessiveization his unmistakable driving rhythm in the wake-up room reality . Many of the poems from his work on stone have been wrested from the author, who is a stone mason and sculptor by profession. Granite and the concentrated work on this brittle material are the inspiration he needs to be able to write. The stone becomes the medium that speaks to us from its millions of years old grammar that has become unintentional . They are, as he says, unconcerned crashes from the waiting loop . Here the clouds escort the helicopters to their crash site . "

Individual poems by Hermann Jan Ooster have been translated into Czech and Georgian.
