Hermann Kamphusen
Hermann Kamphusen , also Herman von Kampfhusen , († November 7, 1698 in Hamburg ) was a German Baroque painter.
Life
Kamphusen may have come from the Netherlands. On July 25, 1661, he became master of the painter's office in Hamburg; later, on July 24, 1695, he is also passed down as its word holder. From 1678 to 1695 he worked as a decorative painter for the Opera on the Gänsemarkt . According to the art historian Lione Pascoli (1674 in Perugia - 1744 in Rome), the high baroque still life painter Christian Berentz was one of Kamphusen's students. Some of his portraits were re-engraved by contemporary copper engravers (e.g. Eberhard Werner Happel , Gottfried Gesius ) and have thus been preserved.
