Hermann Koch (association official)
Maria Hermann Josef Koch (born February 14, 1920 in Düren ; † May 11, 2002 ibid) was chairman of the AWO district association for the Middle Rhine. Koch was employed by the city administration in Düren even before the Second World War . After returning from British captivity, he resumed his work in administration. Before retiring, he was head of the registration office. In 1946 he joined the SPD . In the following years he was chairman of the AWO district association Düren and for many years chairman of the AWO district association Mittelrhein. Koch initiated the geriatric care center "Im Weyerfeld" in Düren-Süd (construction began in 1983), which was later expanded into a senior center. On his 75th birthday it was renamed the Hermann Koch Senior Center .
Koch was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class .
