Hermann Kracht

Hermann Kracht (born February 14, 1929 in Königslutter , † September 29, 2011 in Wolfsburg ) was a German sculptor .

From 1945 to 1948 he completed an apprenticeship as a stone sculptor with the sculptor Theo Schmidt-Reindahl , director of the Königslutter stone cutting school. Between 1948 and 1950 he was a freelancer for Schmidt-Reindahl; he also met the sculptor and graphic artist Gerhard Marcks . From 1950 to 1951 he was a student with Kurt Lehmann in Hanover , before he attended the Werkkunstschule Hanover from 1951 to 1954 , from which he graduated with a diploma.

Between 1960 and 1990 Kracht worked as an arts and crafts educator at Wolfsburg secondary and special schools. From 1992 he worked as a freelancer and exhibited his works in the Hirtenhausgalerie, a half-timbered house from 1685 in the Wolfsburg district of Heßlingen . His preferred materials were stone and wood. Numerous sculptures can be found in Wolfsburg in public spaces .

Hermann Kracht lived in Wolfsburg until his death.
