Hermann Kuenz (born March 3, 1959 in Lienz ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. He was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament from 1999 to 2003 and has been a member of the state parliament again since 2013.

education and profession

Kuenz attended elementary school in Lienz between 1965 and 1969 and from 1969 graduated from the Lienz federal high school. After graduating from high school in 1977, Kuenz began studying agriculture at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna in 1978 . In 1984 he completed his studies with the academic degree "Dipl.-Ing.". Kuenz has been working as a farmer since 1983, where he and his family run the Kuenzhof, an hereditary farm in Dölsach . The company specializes in fruit growing and schnapps distillery. In addition to his work as a farmer, Kuenz worked as a contract employee between 1985 and 1988 and as a state civil servant from 1989 to 1996.

Politics and functions

Kuenz was a local councilor in Dölsach from 1992 to 1998 and was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament from 1999 to 2003, where he held a direct mandate for the constituency of Lienz . He was also a member of the Finance Committee, a member of the Financial Control Committee and a member of the Economic Committee. In 2003 he withdrew from politics for professional reasons. After his company was "doing well", according to his own statements, Kuenz returned to politics in 2013 and was placed eighth on the ÖVP state list in the 2013 state elections . As a result, on May 24, 2013, he was sworn in again as a member of the state parliament and was elected by the rural MPs of the ÖVP as the chairman of the agricultural club. He also took on the role of deputy VP club chairman in the state parliament. In the state parliament he is a member of the finance committee, a member of the interregional state parliament commission, a member of the committee for economy, tourism and technology as well as chairman of the committee for agriculture, forestry, transport and the environment.
