Hermann Lembke

Hermann Lembke (born August 29, 1619 in Rostock ; † February 25, 1674 ibid) was a professor of law at the University of Rostock and city counsel.

Life

Hermann Lembke was a son of the Rostock councilor and chamberlain Jacob Lembke (1596–1656) and his first wife Anna, née. Gribnitz († 1619).

He studied at the Universities of Rostock and Helmstedt . Before he began his professional career as an academic secretary in Rostock in 1646, he traveled to Holland and France. In 1647 he was licentiate and in 1653 doctor and full professor of law at the Rostock University. In 1654 and 1657 Hermann Lembke was elected rector. From 1659 he held the office of city syndic .

Hermann Lembke was married to Elisabeth Schnitler (1627–1716). His son Jacob Lembke also became professor of rights and rector at the University of Rostock and Rostock mayor.
