Hermann Lienhard (writer)

Hermann Lienhard (born February 25, 1922 in Sankt Veit an der Glan ; died there on October 10, 1999 ) was an Austrian poet and playwright, music teacher and organist.

Life

Lienhard studied music and classical philology in Vienna . In his hometown Sankt Veit he worked as an organist and was director of the local music school for many years. He founded the conferences of contemporary Austrian authors and composers in Sankt Veit and headed them from 1950 to 1957. Until his retirement he was head of the radio play and literature department in the Carinthian regional studio of the ORF .

A first volume of poetry was published in 1948, followed by other lyrical works, some of which were also set to music, dramas, radio plays and essays as well as numerous publications in magazines.
