Hermann Müller-John (born August 4, 1894 in Helmstedt , † May 8, 1945 in Austria ) was a German music director of the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler music corps and Leibstandarten Obermusikmeister .
Life
Müller-John joined the NSDAP in 1931 ( membership number 452.295) and on July 21, 1933 the SS (SS number 207.148) and became SS-Hauptsturmführer on July 21, 1933 . On July 22nd, 1936, he was awarded the title of "Leibstandarten-Obermusikmeister" and at the same time was appointed 1st music stage manager of the SS disposable troops .
In 1939 he and his band were involved in war crimes in Poland, in which several members of the Polish Jewish civilian population were illegally shot. He was then arrested and sentenced by a court martial. On the instructions of Adolf Hitler, he was released without a trial. His appointment as SS-Sturmbannführer d. R. of the Waffen-SS took place on January 30, 1943. On May 8, 1945 he committed suicide together with his wife and daughter.
Müller-John was married to a born woman John, whose name has probably been appended to the name Müller (double name).
At the end of the war he found refuge with mountain farmers in Tyrol. The way in which Müller-John and his family died was only known later. Before the Americans appeared, he shot his wife and daughter, saying that his own shot was not fatal and that he was given the coup de grace by an American. In the cemetery of Söll, according to other information, in the municipal cemetery of Itter or Hopfgarten, all were buried. Müller-John was later reburied in the Innsbruck-Amras military cemetery , field H.
