Hermann Mildenberger (physician)

Hermann Mildenberger (born June 24, 1932 ; † January 13, 2018 ) was a German pediatric surgeon .

Life

Mildenberger studied medicine at the universities of Tübingen , Göttingen and Marburg . He then worked as an intern and resident in the USA. In Tübingen he began his specialist training as a pediatrician . He completed further training in pediatric surgery with Andreas Flach . In 1975 Mildenberger became chief physician in Stuttgart, and in 1977 he received the C4 professorship for pediatric surgery at the Hanover Medical School .

Mildenberger worked on a concept for the HB89 and HB94 hepatoblastoma studies. He has published 80 publications, book chapters and monographs.

He was a member of the German Society for Pediatric Surgery and its President from 1993 to 1995. In 1984 he was Congress Chairman of the DGKCH.

In 2013 he received the Fritz Rehbein Medal of Honor from the German Society for Pediatric Surgery
