The German Society for Pediatric Surgery (DGKCH) is the scientific society of physicians who in Germany in specialist pediatric surgery are active. The company represents the interests of pediatric surgery in scientific, technical and professional matters.

history
In the Federal Republic of Germany , at a meeting in Munich on September 21, 1957, at the invitation of Anton Oberniedermayr, the Association of German Pediatric Surgeons was established . In 1963 this was renamed the German Society for Pediatric Surgery in the German Society for Surgery . The first president was Oberniedermayr.
The Society for Pediatric Surgery was founded in the GDR in 1985 . It emerged from the Pediatric Surgery Section of the Society for Surgery of the GDR .
In 1990 the members of the Society for Pediatric Surgery of the GDR were accepted into the German Society for Pediatric Surgery.
The society currently (as of 2019) has around 800 members. The professional society is a member of the Working Group of Scientific Medical Societies ( AWMF ).
Scientific congresses
The association holds its annual meeting in spring as part of the congress of the German Society for Surgery . He holds his autumn conference at the congress of the German Society for Child and Adolescent Medicine .
The association is a member of WOFAPS (World Federation of Associations of Pediatric Surgeons). This was founded in 1974.
