One focus of Hermann Reimer's paintings is the visual representation of interiors. At first these were deserted hotel rooms, holiday flats or living rooms, whereby Reimer used researched photographs on the Internet. However, Reimer is not concerned with simply copying an already existing picture, but rather uses the distributions of furniture or other objects in the photos as a stimulus for the development of independent pictorial spaces.

Although the photographic templates refer to current existing rooms, Reimer's pictures sometimes have something from the past, as if you are in rooms that have not been changed for a long time. Some of the things shown appear like quotes from films or catalogs. In recent years, the rooms have increasingly opened to the outside, with the interior and exterior seeming to merge into one another. People also appear increasingly on the stage shown.

"The strength and fascination of the work lies in the skilful and often daring combination of familiar individual elements, which together, however, seem strange. They create a touching reality that activates one's own memories and at the same time celebrates the sometimes curiosities of everyday life."

In parallel to the above-mentioned group of works, landscape pictures are created in the warmer seasons, which are painted directly on site - i.e. plein air . This is where the influence of Fußmann comes to the fore, who began to paint again in nature, against the prevailing trend in the sixties.
