Hermann Reinhard

Hermann Reinhard (born November 15, 1816 in Dresden ; † January 10, 1892 ibid) was a German physician and entomologist .

He was a resident doctor in Bautzen and from 1866 in Dresden and from 1872 President of the Royal Saxon State Medical College. In 1889 he retired. He was a secret medical advisor.

Together with Jean Pierre Mégnin (1828–1905), he is considered to be one of the founders of forensic entomology.

As an entomologist, he specialized in hymenoptera . His collection went to the Zoological Museum in Berlin and duplicates to the State Museum of Animal Science in Dresden.

On December 3, 1866 ( registration number 2068 ) he became a member of the Leopoldina with the surname WF Panzer . In 1891 he received an honorary doctorate.
