Hermann Schilling (banker)

Hermann Schilling (born November 15, 1893 in Frankfurt am Main , † 1961 ) was a German banker.

Career

Schilling completed an apprenticeship as a banker at the private bank Theodor Gunzenhäuser in Frankfurt. From 1923 he was head of the Frankfurt branch of Commerzbank . In 1933 he switched to the General Management of the Prussian State Bank (Seehlassung). Under the Prussian Finance Minister Johannes Popitz he was State Finance Councilor. Through Popitz he made contact with the resistance groups of July 20 . From 1947 to 1956 he was a partner in the Brinckmann, Wirtz & Co. bank in Hamburg.
