Hermann Sievers
Hermann Sievers (born June 4, 1892 in Brakel , † October 15, 1972 in Wattenscheid ) was the longest serving Lord Mayor of the city of Wattenscheid.
General
He joined the SPD in 1911 at the age of 19 . He later worked professionally as a self-employed master shoemaker. With his term of office from 1950 to 1964, he served as honorary mayor for 14 years. The average term of office of a lord mayor was two to four years until the regional reform in 1975.

First marriage to Johanna geb. Kroger. This marriage resulted in three children: Hermann (* 1924), Eugen (* April 9, 1926 + April 19, 2012) and Renate (* 1928). After Johanna's death he married Maria geb. Bischoff. His children from this marriage are Elisabeth, Wilhelm and Christel.
Others
As a special honor, a street in Wattenscheid was dedicated to him as the only politician in Wattenscheid on January 1, 1979 . The former Josefstrasse was renamed Hermann-Sievers-Strasse. He himself lived on Hammer Strasse (after the Bochum-Hamme district).
