Hermann Stetter
Hermann Stetter (born May 16, 1917 in Bonn ; † May 9, 1993 ) was a German organic chemist and professor at the Technical University of Aachen .
The synthetic route he discovered for 1,4- diketones is also known as the Stetter reaction .
Stetter studied chemistry at the University of Bonn , his doctoral supervisor was Burckhardt Helferich . In 1968 he and many other professors from RWTH Aachen University were among the signatories of the “ Marburg Manifesto ”, which formed an academic front against the emerging co-determination at universities.
