Hermann Weratschnig , (born April 26, 1975 in Schwaz ) is an Austrian politician ( GREEN ) and small business owner. From 2013 to 2018 he was a member of the Tyrolean state parliament and its second vice-president. In the 2019 National Council election he took second place on the Tyrolean state list of the Greens and received the party's second basic Tyrolean mandate.

education and profession

Hermann Weratschnig graduated from the Episcopal Gymnasium Paulinum in Schwaz in 1994 . In 2008 he passed the qualification test as a real estate trustee and completed a bachelor's degree in political science at the University of Innsbruck in 2011 . In 2012, he also completed a master’s degree in business administration with an MBA .

Between 2000 and 2011, Hermann Weratschnig and a partner ran GM-Handels-GmbH, which dealt with machine service and maintenance as well as IT corporate customer care. From 2009 to 2012 he was also employed by the Geisler law firm in advising young entrepreneurs. Since 2010 he has been a lecturer at WIFI Tirol, where he holds courses in the field of trainer training, entrepreneurial law, IT specialist academy, gastronomy proficiency test and master craftsman’s exams in labor law.

Politics and functions

Hermann Weratschnig was a board member of the Interest Group for the Protection of Biotopes (ISB) from 1990 to 1997 and was one of the founding members of the Transitforum Austria in 1992 . In 1994 he became a board member of the Austrian Environment Association and in 1996 took on the role of district spokesman for the Greens in the Schwaz district. He then worked from 1998 to 2004 as a councilor in the city of Schwaz and became an environmental consultant in 2002 and a city councilor in 2004. Furthermore, in 2010 he was promoted to deputy chairman of the Transitforum Austria Tirol and in 2011 to a member of the regional board of the Tyrolean Greens. After the state elections in 2013 , Weratschnig was sworn in as a member of the Tyrolean state parliament on May 24, 2013 and was elected 2nd vice president of the state parliament on the same day. He received 24 votes, 12 MPs voted against Weratschnig. Since then he has also been a member of the Agriculture, Forestry, Transport and Environment Committee, member of the Financial Control Committee, member of the Emergency Committee and member of the Board of Directors. He has been a member of the National Council since 2019 .

On March 28, 2018, Stephanie Jicha succeeded him as the second Vice President of the State Parliament.

Hermann Weratschnig is single, has a daughter born in 2002 and lives in Schwaz.
