Hermann von Amelunxen († 1580 ) was Drost and pledge.

His father Moritz von Amelunxen was Drost and pledge holder of the Reckenberg office and bought the Aussel estate there. After his father's death, Hermann took over his official position. He was involved several times in Handel with the Counts of Tecklenburg , and the city of Wiedenbrück was besieged.
Around 1530 he entered the service of the sovereign as a licentiate of rights, who appointed him Drost of the Grönenberg office in 1536. Through his marriage to Anna von dem Bussche in 1540, he was given the pledge of the Grönenberg office in addition to Gesmold . With that he got the richest property of the bishopric of Osnabrück. Amelunxen transformed the old Gesmold castle into a palace complex. In 1553 he bought the Reckenburg pledge from the Bishop of Osnabrück . During the defense of these righteous people he was involved in many disputes, as a result of which he was removed from office by the bishop in 1548 and replaced by Hermann von Oer zu Bruche. After his death in 1559 he received the Drostenamt back until 1575. In 1561 the prince appointed him from 217 feudal men to be liege judge. He also received the wooden court over the Nüvener Mark and the neck court over the Free Hagen . Thanks to his good relations with the emperor, he was appointed assessor of the reorganized Reich Chamber Court. His princely wealth was consumed by the elaborate palace construction, his long journeys and his stately appearance as well as the high dowries given to his daughters. He died in 1580, near ruin.

Moritz II built the Gruppenhof Haus Aussel in 1580 as a Renaissance building.
