Hermann von Didinghoven

Hermann von Didinghoven († 1. May 1263 ) was dean in the diocese of Münster .

Life

Hermann von Didinghoven came from an ancient Brandenburg family. In 1232 he was canon in Münster and in July 1246 he took over the cathedral scholastry . In 1250 he was appointed provost of the cathedral and in this function was responsible for property matters and the representation of the cathedral chapter externally. On December 7, 1252, Bishop Otto gave him a prebende who was connected to the bailiwick . At the end of February or beginning of March 1260 he became cathedral dean and was now responsible for the internal management of the cathedral chapter. He remained in this office until his death. His successor was Widekind von Waldeck .

Others

A document dated November 1, 1238 is in the Warendorf district archive. This contains a contract between the Bishop of Münster and the citizens of Beckum, who were given land and possessions in return for payment. Several clergymen witnessed this legal transaction, including Hermann.
