The Hermannsburg is an abandoned hilltop castle on the so-called Singer or Sommersteinen north of the Elterlein district of Hermannsdorf in the Ore Mountains .
Description and history
The facility was located about 1 kilometer north of Hermannsdorf at the east end of the Singer or Sommersteine. Due to its location, it can be counted as a spur castle type . It had a long oval core work of around 12 by 22 meters. It was located on a natural rock cliff, which was artificially enlarged by added dry stone in the north. In front of the core plant, a section trench about 8 to 10 meters wide and a maximum of 3 meters deep runs from the north over the west side to the south-west . The bottom of the trench is on average about 5 to 6 meters lower than the core plant plateau. In the east and south, individual cliffs are in front of the plateau. In front of the ditch is the outer wall, 4 to 5 meters wide and 1 to 2 meters high.
In 1980 the facility was placed under protection as a historical monument .
