Herminio Giménez
Herminio Giménez (born February 20, 1905 , † July 6, 1991 in Asunción ) was a Paraguayan composer.
At the age of eleven, Giménez played the euphonium in the military band of the Paraguarí province under the direction of Emil Latkowski . Later he was a member of the Asunción Police Band , led by Salvador Déntice . During this time he wrote his first known composition, the Polka Jasy Morotí .
During the Chaco War , Giménez was director of the military band. After Alfredo Stroessner's coup , he went into exile in Argentina, from which he only returned shortly before his death in 1991. He composed a. a. Polkas and gallops , waltzes , marches , chamamés , guaranias and film music, as well as a symphonic poem for violin and orchestra, two suites , a ballad for orchestra and a ballet for string orchestra.
