Hermsdorf (desert)

The Hermsdorf desert (also Hermersdorf) is located between the towns of Strauch and Oelsnitz on the northern border of the Saxon district of Meißen . The locations of the two Saxon towns of Strauch and Oelsnitz are each about one kilometer away. The spatial position of already the state of Brandenburg belonging Schrade community Hirschfeld is located about two kilometers north of the deserted village.

The Großenhainer Heinrich Klettenberg received from Meissner Viscount Henry of Meissen in 1406, among other things Hermanstorffer goods, since the village a fief of viscount to Meissen was. In 1423, Hans Swencz appears in the old documents as the tenant of Hermsdorf.

In 1551, the residents of the community of Krauschütz , located south of the desert, had the right to practice trift and guarding in the corridors of the desert. In 1582 there was therefore a dispute between Hieronymus von Köckritz and Krauschütz. In 1586 the desert belonged to the manor of the Walda manor .
