Wildenhain is a district of the Saxon town of Großenhain in the district of Meißen .

Geography and traffic

The place is in the Grossenhainer care northwest of the city area. The federal road 98 runs through the village, and the Große Röder flows through Wildenhain .

history

The first traceable remains of settlements from the early Bronze Age were found in the district. Germanic settlement remains were also discovered. The village of Wildenhain was probably first mentioned in a document in 1189. The documentary mention in 1286, which confirms the existence of a village and a knight's seat, is certain. In the years 1530 and 1575 to 1577 the plague raged in the place . In the Thirty Years War in 1635 the bridge over the Große Röder is destroyed and the village is sacked by the Swedes in 1637. At the end of the war the place only has 8 inhabitants.

During the Seven Years' War there was a cavalry battle between Glaubitz and Wildenhain on November 17, 1757, and looting by the troops of the Prussian General Friedrich August von Finck at the turn of the year 1759/60 .

On April 23, 1945 the demolition of the Röder Bridge was prevented by two residents. In 1958 the Röder floods, which affects the place.

In 1970 the Röderbrücke is rebuilt. On March 1, 1994, the new municipality of Wildenhain emerged from the municipalities of Bauda , Colmnitz, Walda-Kleinthiemig and Wildenhain.

In a public meeting on December 17, 2007, the Wildenhain municipal council voted by a majority for the dissolution of the administrative community with Zabeltitz, which had existed since January 1, 2000, and for incorporation into Grossenhain . This was completed on October 1, 2009.
