Place name and first documentary mention

Krauschütz is originally a street village with a corridor . The place owes its name to the Wendish "Kruschwiza", which means something like pear tree, cf. Krauschwitz / Krušwica in Upper Lusatia . It was first mentioned in a document under this name in 1406 as Krußewicz . Other forms of place names were: Kruschwitzchin (1456), Krawschwytzken (1462), Kleyne Kraschwytz (1462), Crauschwitcz (1474), Cleynen Krauschitz (1500), Krausch (1539), Klein Krauschitz (1586) and Krauschuetz bey Hayn (1791).

Around 1406 the place comprised nine Hufen. Krauschütz was transferred as a fiefdom to the Lords of Köckritz , who were seated at Elsterwerda Castle, by the Margraves of Meißen . It probably remained in his possession until the middle of the 15th century. Successor in 1551 was the Walda manor. In 1764 there were 7 possessed men and 5 house owners in the village. The size of the place was also given at that time as nine hooves.

As a result of the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone , an agricultural production cooperative (LPG) of type I was founded in 1953 in the agricultural Krauschütz, for which the farmers had to bring in all of the land. Initially, the local LPG, which was named Edelweiß , had six farms with ten farmers as members. In order to increase the productivity of the local agricultural production areas, the beginning of the 1980s began to mine peat between Krauschütz and Skäßchen , which was then applied to the fields. The approximately 2 hectare remaining water of the former peat cut is now used as fishing water.

Incorporations

The place was first incorporated in 1960, when it merged with the little larger neighboring municipality of Skäßchen and the two neighboring villages of Skaup and Uebigau. In 1994 Krauschütz was then incorporated into Zabeltitz together with the other districts of the community .

Together with Zabeltitz and its other districts, the incorporation into neighboring Grossenhain finally followed in 2010 after a referendum .

Culture and sights

The place is characterized by three-sided courtyards. In volume 70 of the publication series Values of the German Homeland , the Dreiseitenhof in Strauch Strasse 17, a side building made of timber framing with a central St. Andrew's cross, was described as particularly remarkable. In addition, the half-timbered courtyard in Stübers Strasse 20, which also has a Kumthalle in the south side building , and the courtyards of Stübers Strasse 2 and 5 were also mentioned.
