Rusty is a district of the Saxon town of Großenhain in the district of Meißen, about four kilometers to the southeast . The district road 8530 runs through the village, which is located in the valley of the Große Röder . In terms of nature, Rostig is in the Großenhainer Pflege region .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1326 as Rodstok . It was originally built as a square village with a square corridor. The place name means something like "place where a body of water separates or unites" or "settlement at an estuary". In 1406 six single-hoofed, one quarter-hoofed and 14 gardeners lived here. The margravial fiefdom was owned by the von Komerstadt family from 1543 to 1587 . Rostig then became the district of Hayn .
Rostig was incorporated into the neighboring community of Weßnitz in 1961 , which has belonged to Großenhain since 1995.
Serious damage was caused by a tornado passing through the town on Whit Monday 2010 .
Population development
In 1552 there were 18 possessed men in Rostig. Around 1764 there were also 18 possessed men living here who cultivated 10½ Hufen land.

Culture and sights
In addition to a stone marked as 1836, there is a residential building at Kalkreuther Strasse 4 and a stable house on the neighboring property at Kalkreuther Strasse 5, which are listed as historical monuments .
