Heroídes Artigas Mariño

Heroídes Artigas Mariño (born August 30, 1939 in Montevideo , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan journalist and historian .

Artigas Mariño has worked as a photographer and journalist for various regional press organs since 1957. His employers included El Sol and La Colonia . In 1968 he was the first to publish a magazine called Colonia grafica , whose publication he stopped with the emerging dictatorship in Uruguay. Together with Pío Santiago , he founded, depending on the sources, in 1975 or 1976 after his return from Buenos Aires the journal Estampas coloniales , which initially appeared until 1985 and which he revived under the name Estampas Colonienses in 1996 . Artigas Mariño, who was awarded the Medal of Honor and the Merit Diploma of the Asociación de Amigos y Propietarios del Barrio Histórico de Colonia , lives in Colonia and is the editor of several history books. In 1986 Colonia del Sacramento appeared: Memorias de una ciudad . Five years later he published Colonia para todos . In 2001 he published the book La aventura del Real de San Carlos .
