Heros is a rose from the breeder Mathias Tantau ; it was introduced in autumn 1933 on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the city of Uetersen and the opening of the rosarium . Your name arose from the two words "Heimat" and "Rose". In the context of the largest rose show of its kind in Uetersen in 1934, this variety received 1st prize.

The carmine-red, large-flowered bloom, which is heavily filled with 26 to 40 petals, develops a strong, aromatic scent. The plant grows bushy and reaches a height of up to three meters. It is frost hardy to −23 ° C ( USDA zone 6 ). In an unfavorable location, it is prone to powdery mildew .

'Heros' is no longer available in stores. Mathias Tantau bred them from the varieties 'Johanniszauber' and ' Etoile de Hollande '.
