The City and Local History Museum is a museum in Uetersen .

The museum is located in the old town of Uetersen near the monastery . It is housed in the former gas works from 1855, which is a listed building. The local history museum is run on a voluntary basis and was opened for the first time in 1995. The focus of the exhibition deals with the history of the city of Uetersen. It is the development of the city from the 13th century from the spots shown to the present day. In addition to urban development, the history of the guilds , rose cultivation, shipping, shipyards and Uetersen whaling are also shown. On the upper floor, among other things, paper models of the old town, the monastery and other buildings as well as an exhibition by the Uetersen painter Kurt Roth can be seen. The construction drawings for the rail zeppelin by Franz Kruckenberg can also be viewed. In the adjoining rooms you can see the furnishings of an old bakery , a room of the bourgeois living culture of the 19th century and the collection of engines from the former ILO engine works in Pinneberg.
