Mr. Blum is a German post-punk band from Berlin . She combines indie elements with electronics and German lyrics.

history

The musician and visual artist Thomas Wagner, founder of the band, began his musical career in 1983 with the avant-garde punk band Rosa Beton in East Berlin . In the same year he and the drummer Ronald Mausolf produced the tape of the same name, which achieved cult status in the punk scene of the GDR.

In 1987, for the first time under the name of Herr Blum, Thomas Wagner's music is brought to the stage with action painting by his father Jürgen Wagner.

Mr. Blum's first publications from 1987 onwards are musical solo works by Wagner. Using tape collage, guitar, beatbox and percussion made from scrap, the artist developed the basis for his first songe experiments. These pieces of music sounded brutal, brittle and aggressive. The German-language texts were sometimes shouted and showed, poetically exaggerated to the point of surreal, the reality of the declining socialist dictatorship.

Since 1989 the band has been touring Europe with a larger cast.

There were collaborations with Martin Agosti, Record Master, Der Verlag, EFA Vertrieb, Goethe-Institut, Carl Hegemann, Lars Wünsche, Zensor, Irmgard Schmitz, Lutz Schramm, Thomas Spindler, Katja Lucker, Karl Walterbach, Amadis, among others.
