Daniel Dorsch

Daniel Dorsch (* 1968 in Rostock-Warnemünde ) is a German sound designer and stage musician .

Life

education

From 1975 to 1985 he attended polytechnic high school. During this time he made classical piano training from 1975 to 1984 and took organ lessons from church music director Ch. Werbs. From 1986 to 1988 he took saxophone lessons at the Rostock Conservatory . In 1987 he completed an apprenticeship as a glazier . In 1994 he studied North Indian classical music with Debashish Sanyal and took tabla lessons at the Ashram Benares Music Center in India.

Musician career

Dorsch sang from 1974 to 1986 in the youth choir and choir in Warnemünde. Since 1990 he has been dealing exclusively with electronic music .

Dorsch created the sound installation for the room installation "Orbit 2000" by Yadegar Asisi for the world exhibition Expo 92 in Seville , Spain . In 1995 the first productions took place with the independent Orphtheater ensemble in Berlin with international guest performances. In 1996 the silent film music band Tronthaim was founded with Sascha Moser. Together they performed nationally and internationally in Berlin, Florence, Riga, Lisbon, Oslo and Paris, among others. In 1997 Dorsch played as a guest musician with the band Madonna Hip Hop Massaker . With the band he made appearances at Rock am Ring and the Hurricane Festival . In 1998 he founded the band Recorder with Louise Gold. They played together at the Expo 2000 in Hanover, a Fête de la Musique in Istanbul and the “Forte” in Riga. The duo was the winner of the "Face-the-audience" contest by Meisel Musikverlage and BMG .

Dorsch played at the world's largest music fair, Midem, in Cannes, France, in 2001 with his bands Tronthaim and Recorder.

Dorsch has played in the band ALP since 2008 , where he replaced Konrad Hempel. In autumn 2010 his solo CD Tokio Diary was released on the label Progress Music. In 2011, the Tronthaim project released the CD Capital for the silent film Berlin - The Symphony of the Big City from 1927 by German film director Walter Ruttmann . At longer intervals, this setting (even before the CD was released) was repeatedly performed live for the film screening. Together with Mattef Kuhlmay, Daniel Dorsch recorded the album Kippschwimmern by Frank Bretschneider . The album was released in 2012. Dorsch played in 2013 as a keyboard player in the band HERR BLUM .

He works with the theater director Hans-Werner Kroesinger on the play Karlsruhe - City of the Just . Further collaborations took place with the theater directors Susanne Truckenbrodt, David Marton, Frank Asmus and Chris Kondek. Dorsch created sound installations and stage music at theaters such as the Kammerspiele in Munich, the Freiburg Theater , the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck , the Stuttgart State Theater , the Maxim-Gorki-Theater , the HAU 2 and the Sophiensaele Berlin. He realized electronic sound experiments a. a. for the Expo in Seville and Hanover, the Hygiene Museum Dresden and the Bauhaus Dessau .

Dorsch lives in Berlin.
