Life
After studying art, Bretschneider began producing his first pieces of music in 1984. In 1986 he founded Gruppe AG together with Torsten Eckhardt and Jan and Ina Kummer . Violin . Initially designed as an experimental art project, the band became known to a larger audience through Lutz Schramm's weekly radio broadcast Parocktikum on DT64 .
In the mid-1980s, Bretschneider founded the cassette labelklangFarBe , primarily to publish the cassette albums of his band AG Geige and its surroundings. In 1990 AG Geige got a record deal with the Amiga label .
After the band split up in 1993, Bretschneider produced together with Olaf Bender , who had replaced Torsten Eckhardt in 1989. In 1995 they both founded the Rastermusic label in Chemnitz . In the following years, Rastermusic increasingly cooperated with the Chemnitz-based label noton. archive for sound and non-sound of the musician Carsten Nicolai . In 1999 both labels merged to form Raster-Noton . Bretschneider later withdrew from the label work, but remained connected to Raster-Noton both privately and as an artist.
