Mille Plateaux is a German Electronica - music label based in Frankfurt am Main.

The label is known for its often style-defining releases in the fields of minimal techno , clickhop and other experimental electronic music . Mille Plateaux has been part of the Total Recall online sales team since March 2008 .

history

The label was founded in 1993 by Achim Szepanski as the successor to the Force Inc. Music Works sub-label of the same name . The sub-labels Ritornell (1999-2003), Plateaux Résistance (2005) and Supralinear (2005) emerged from Mille Plateaux. Distribution took place via DMD and EFA media .

The expression Mille Plateaux goes back to the book Tausend Plateaus (French: Mille Plateaux ) by the philosopher Gilles Deleuze and the psychoanalyst Félix Guattari . The label concept was accordingly based on their idea of rhizomatics . This serves as a metaphor for a postmodern or poststructuralist model of knowledge organization and description of the world.

In early 2004, Mille Plateaux's sales force, Force Inc. Music Works, filed for bankruptcy . This was mainly related to the collapse of the EFA media distribution.

After Rai Streubel bought the label in October 2004 and in 2006 Disco Inc. Ltd. the new owners were there were a few publications. In March 2008, Mille Plateaux was taken over by Total Recall , a global online shop and distributor for used and new phonograms. Under the management of the new owner and A & Rs Marcus Gabler, Mille Plateaux wants to close the gap that emerged after 2004 and continue the original work.
