Piero de Ponte (also Perin Dupont or Pierino, Pietrino, Pierre or Pietro del Ponte , born August 26, 1462 in Piedmont ; † November 18, 1535 ) was the 45th Grand Master from August 26, 1534 until his death in 1535 of the Order of Malta and took over his official duties in Malta on November 10, 1534 .

During his tenure, the fortifications were expanded further .

He was very careful about the discipline and behavior of the members of the Order.

Using the order's galley fleet, he supported Emperor Charles V in the war against Tunis , thereby securing his possessions.

In 1535 there was a grain shortage due to the increase in population in Malta, which Ponte wanted to remedy by imports from Sicily , and when Sicily failed to fulfill the treaties, he forced Sicilian ships in the port of Malta to sell their grain loads.

Ponte was buried in the Notre-Dame de Siege chapel in Fort St. Angelo in Birgu and was later reburied in the crypt of the Order Church of St. Johann, today's St. John's co-cathedral in Valletta .
