Martin Damm (musician)
Martin Damm (* 1968 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German hardcore techno producer who is best known under the pseudonym The Speed Freak .
Damm started with EBM- style techno in the early 1990s , became part of the Cologne techno scene and released on labels such as Monotone , Force Inc. Music Works , and Dj.ungle Fever . In 1994 and 1995 he became very well known in the Dutch gabber scene, which enabled him to publish his hardcore techno productions at the time, mainly on the Amsterdam label Mokum Records . Since then he has been active on many labels and on numerous samplers in all techno styles. The Speed Freak is less well known to the general public, but the electronic music scene, the gabber scene and his colleagues see him as an important producer and DJ .
Various productions became hits in the scene, which were also licensed for sampler series such as Thunderdome , Terrordrome and Shocker .
In many of his productions he uses the Roland TB-303 (acid organ or bassline sequencer) as well as various types of samples, pianos, beats and breakbeats and produces among other things. a. in the styles Hardcore Techno, Breakcore , Drum and Bass , Happy Hardcore , Gabber , up to Trip-Hop or experimental excursions, like his project Steel on Mille Plateaux .

As a producer as well as for appearances, he usually uses one of his 20+ pseudonyms , the most famous of which are The Speed Freak, Biochip C. , Wendy Milan and Search & Destroy . He is also a member of several groups such as 909 Abuse or Shadowrun .
