Julius Goldzier

Julius Goldzier (born January 20, 1854 in Vienna , Austria , †  January 20, 1925 in Chicago , Illinois ) was an American politician . Between 1893 and 1895 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Julius Goldzier attended public schools in his Austrian homeland. In 1866 he came to New York State . After a subsequent law degree and his admission to the bar, he began to work in Chicago in this profession from 1872. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1890 and 1892 he was a member of the Chicago City Council.

In the congressional election of 1892 Goldzier was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the fourth constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Walter C. Newberry on March 4, 1925 . Since he was not confirmed in 1894, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1895 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Goldzier practiced as a lawyer again. He died on January 20, 1925, his 71st birthday, in Chicago, where he was buried.
