Robert P. Hanrahan

Robert Paul Hanrahan (born February 25, 1934 in Chicago Heights , Illinois , †  January 7, 2011 in Vernon Hills , Illinois) was an American politician . Between 1973 and 1975 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Robert Hanrahan attended public schools in his homeland and then from 1952 to 1954 Thornton's Community College in Harvey . He then studied until 1959 at Bowling Green State University in Ohio . In the following years he worked as a teacher and in administration. Between 1965 and 1967 he was auditor for the village of Bloom . From 1967 to 1971 he served as a school council in Cook County . He then became a Midwest Regional Commissioner of Education .

Politically, Hanrahan joined the Republican Party . In the 1972 congressional election , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Illinois , where he succeeded Morgan F. Murphy on January 3, 1973 . Since he was not confirmed in 1974, he could only complete one term in Congress until January 3, 1975 . This was overshadowed by the Watergate affair .

Between 1975 and 1977, Hanrahan served as a division manager in the US Department of Health . In addition to several other offices, he was from 1980 to 1982 County Commissioner in Lake County . Between 1984 and 1987 he was a director of the American Security Council Foundation . Robert Hanrahan also acted as a consultant. He died on January 7, 2011 in Vernon Hills.
