J. Ross Mickey
J. Ross Mickey (born January 5, 1856 in Eldorado , McDonough County , Illinois , † March 20, 1928 in Excelsior Springs , Missouri ) was an American politician . Between 1901 and 1903 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .
Career
Ross Mickey attended his home public schools and Lincoln College . After that he worked in Macomb as a teacher for a few years. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1889, he began to practice in Macomb in this profession. Between 1898 and 1901 he served as a judge in McDonough County. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party .
In the 1900 congressional election , Mickey was elected to the 15th constituency of Illinois in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Benjamin F. Marsh on March 4, 1901 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1902, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1903 . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Mickey worked again as a lawyer. Between 1908 and 1918 he was president of the Mystic Workers of the World . After that he was one of its directors until his death. He died in Excelsior Springs on March 20, 1928 and was buried in Macomb.
