James McKinney

James McKinney (born April 14, 1852 in Oquawka , Illinois , †  September 29, 1934 in Aledo , Illinois) was an American politician . Between 1905 and 1913 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James McKinney attended the public schools of his home country and then Monmouth College until 1874 . Between 1892 and 1907 he was President of Aledo Bank in the city of the same name. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . In the years 1896 and 1900 he participated as a delegate at the regional party conventions of the Republicans in Illinois. He was then from 1901 to 1902 a member of the State railroad and warehouse commission of his state. From 1902 to 1903 he headed the Education Committee of the city of Aledo.

Following the death of MP Benjamin F. Marsh , McKinney was elected as his successor to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he took up his new mandate on November 7, 1905, when the by-election was due for the 14th seat of Illinois . After two re-elections, he could remain in Congress until March 3, 1913 . In 1912 he declined to run again.

James McKinney was the chairman of the Illinois State Bankers' Association in 1908 and 1909 . His main occupation was in the real estate lending industry in Aledo. He also died in this city on September 29, 1934.
