Frederick Remann

Frederick Remann (born May 10, 1847 in Vandalia , Illinois , †  June 14, 1895 ibid) was an American politician . In 1895 he represented the state of Illinois in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Frederick Remann attended the public schools of his home country and then the Mifflin Academy in Pennsylvania and the Iron City Business College in Pittsburgh . During the Civil War , he temporarily served as a corporal in an infantry unit from Illinois. In 1866 and 1867 he continued his education at the Mifflin Academy . In 1868 he graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville . He then returned to Vandalia, where he worked in commerce. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

Remann became a member of the Vandalia Borough Council and Fayette County Council . He was also a delegate to several regional Republican conventions in Illinois. He was a member of the Illinois House of Representatives in 1877 and 1878 . In the 1894 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 18th  electoral district of his state , where he succeeded William St. John Forman on March 4, 1895 . However, he was practically unable to exercise this mandate because he died before the constituent session of the Congress.
